Anwar and Wan Azizah gave opposing opinions on Najib’s trial

After several delays, former Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s SRC International Sdn Bhd (a former subsidiary of 1MDB) trial finally commences on April 3, which is today.

While Najib himself has agreed for his much anticipated trial to be broadcasted live on TV, Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail expressed her concerns over the possibility that the live broadcast might turn the trial into a circus.

She added that it is up for the court to decide whether Najib is guilty or not.

However, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim who is also Wan Azizah’s husband, has a different take on the matter.

According to Anwar, it would be good to broadcast the trial live on TV as the people have the right to know how much money was robbed from the country through the scandal.

On the other hand, Corporate Communication Unit of the Chief Registrar’s Office of the Federal Court released a statement that any trial in court will not be allowed to be broadcast live.

All eyes are now on Najib’s SRC trial, as it is now marked as the trial of the century.
