Yesterday, Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin claimed that there was no exam taken, and that she was doing that for the views, being a Youtuber herself.

This has unfortunately led netizens to throw negative comments against her.

As a form of response, Veveonah took it to Facebook to share her disappointment.

Veveonah first became viral when she posted YouTube videos of herself taking her tests on a tree as that was among the few places near her house in rural Sabah that could reached Internet access.

The video gained positive reactions from netizens who saw her as an inspiration.

In fact, she has also gained recognition from her own University who offered her a scholarship.

Besides that, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) followed up and vowed to boost the area’s Internet connection by providing a telecommunications tower by mid of next year.

Even former Youth and Sports Minister, Syed Saddiq took it to Twitter to express his support towards Veveonah.

The controversy surrounding the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) students make up Syed Saddiq’s top issue in the past week, accumulating the highest traction under the banner “ambil nama” and “kadang-kadang”.

Veveonah’s controversy even out shadowed Syed Saddiq’s new party following Tun Mahathir’s claim that the former’s party would not succeed.

With regards to the issue, Zahidi had since retracted his false allegation and told that he was misinformed.

However, that was not the case with Deputy Minister of Finance I, Abdul Rahim Bakri who was cited by Zahidi apparently informing the latter that Veveonah did not have any examinations on the day she uploaded her video.

Rahim stood by his claim that Veveonah had faked her situation, accusing her of deliberately creating drama for publicity.

While the snap election is fast approaching, the current situation with Veveonah has somewhat the Perikatan Nasional coalition in Sabah as this gives the opportunity for the opposition to leverage their statements to win the election.
