Debate between Kit Siang and Najib will remain on social media

DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang always has a specific interest in former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. For the past one year, the former premier is the second most mentioned person by Kit Siang, just behind Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad by 50 news articles.

In return, Kit Siang was given the informal title “Minister of Najib Affairs” by the Pekan MP.

Nevertheless, Kit Siang isn’t that obsessed over Najib. From the dependency, there is a significant gap between both topics, “Lim Kit Siang” and “Kit Siang – Najib”. This means Kit Siang appeared in many other news articles that did not mention the former Prime Minister.

The gap between the two topics became closer on May 20. The Iskandar Puteri MP said that Najib and Jho Low are trying to divide the Pakatan Harapan government to escape from the ongoing 1MDB scandal.

But the hot news happened on the following day (May 21), Najib accepted Kit Siang’s challenge for a debate, causing a spike in the media trend. However, the debate will not proceed as Kit Siang withdrew himself despite spending months challenging Najib to a debate.

Consequently, DAP member RSN Rayer (Jelutong MP) volunteered himself as Kit Siang’s replacement to debate with Najib.

Regardless, 1MDB scandal is not the only bullet used by Kit Siang on Najib for the past year. The DAP veteran alleged that Najib is involved in the murders of these five victims – Altantuya, Kevin Morais, Teoh Beng Hock, Hussain Najadi and Ahmad Sarbani.

Overall, it is a disappointment that the debate between Kit Siang and Najib did not go through as it will be “climatic battle” between the two leaders.
