Najib suffered from eye infection, while Jho Low reportedly looked like a bear

Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was shocked over the High Court decision as he was ordered to enter his defence for all the seven charges against him involving the abuse of SRC International Sdn Bhd funds.

However, it is just the tip of the iceberg. The former premier was slapped with 25 financial crime charges pertaining to 1MDB.

His 1MDB trial was delayed as he had an eye infection. Nevertheless, his visit to Tanjung Piai to campaign for the upcoming by-election made the public question the authenticity of his eye infection.

Nevertheless, fugitive financier Jho Low remains a top figure of the 1MDB scandal. Back in December 2018, he was charged in absentia in relation to 1MDB dealings. Almost a year later (14 November 2019), he is yet to be caught.

Due to the lengthy manhunt, several rumours on the reported mastermind behind the 1MDB scandal surfaced online, including the outrageous claim that Jho Low had gone through plastic surgery and now resembles a bear.

In another rumour, the businessman-turned-fugitive was spotted in Ahmedabad, India.

However, those rumours were rubbished-off by Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.

Overall, the 1MDB scandal remains a sensational issue in the media, but both Najib and Jho Low still received the most media attention as they are the top figures in the scandal.

Regardless of how serious or absurd the news on Najib and Jho Low are, they will still be reported by the media.

Whereas, other figures like the former Treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Irwan Serigar, who was charged in connection to the 1MDB scandal in October 2018, had very little media exposure in relation to 1MDB.
