UMNO Youth questioned ‘buka puasa’ event organised by PKR Youth

Johor UMNO Youth chief Mohd Hairi Mad Shah has been active lately in attacking Pakatan Harapan.

Last week, he asked Kedah Chief Minister Mukhriz Mahathir to apologise to Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim. The demand was made after a video of Mukhriz ignoring the Johor ruler went viral.

Mohd Hairi’s latest target is PKR Youth chief Akmal Nasir (Johor Bahru MP). He questioned Akmal for inviting Muslims to attend an Iftar (breaking of fast) event organised at a gurdwara.

He understood Akmal’s intention of fostering unity among the multiracial society in Malaysia. But the UMNO politician found it inappropriate for Muslims to conduct their religious practice in others’ house of worship.

Therefore, he demanded Akmal to change the venue of the event.

Following, Twitter users join in to criticise the PKR Youth chief’s decision.

They find it absurd for an Iftar to be conducted at a gurdwara when there are so many other locations to choose from.

Despite the negative public response, the ‘buka puasa’ event at the Sikh temple proceeded as planned.

According to an article by Malay Mail, the programme attracted about 300 attendees.

Besides, a Twitter user tweeted a news of a similar Iftar event happened in Dubai to support Akmal.

Mohd Hairi has yet to react to the event as it commenced, neglecting his earlier criticism.
