1MDB scandal remains prominent in the media

The 1MDB scandal continues to make headlines on the mainstream media. In the latest news, former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s final appeal to postpone 1MDB was rejected by the Federal Court.

Therefore, the trial will proceed as scheduled on August 19.

Looking at the influencers list of 1MDB for the past one month, the top influencers were the witnesses in Najib’s SRC International trial, Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah and Joanna Yu Ging Ping.

Ahmad Husni was the former Second Finance Minister from 2009 to 2016, under Najib’s leadership.

He testified that he was dismissed by Najib when he raised his concern over the proposed investment of 1MDB into PetroSaudi International Ltd.

Ahmad Husni revealed that Najib told him: “You don’t worry, Husni, from today onwards, don’t get involved”.

In return, Ahmad Husni resigned from his position as Second Finance Minister. He along with Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal were convicted of Sedition Act in November 2016 for breaching and debating on 1MDB.

On the other hand, Najib’s former account relationship manager at AmBank Group, Joanna Yu, testified that over RM606.51 million had been deposited and spend through Najib’s three bank accounts from 2013 to 2015.
