Anwar’s aide is one of the suspects arrested in relation to Haziq’s sex videos

According the media exposure of Haziq Abdullah, the man who claimed to be the man in the viral sex videos along with Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, it is noticeable that he was slowly disappearing from the media from July 8 to 13.

Haziq’s media exposure experienced a spike on July 14 after he was arrested with five other suspects for distribution of pornographic materials. On the same day, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador revealed that police had identified the mastermind behind the sex videos, from its production to distribution.

Two days later, July 16, three more suspects were arrested in Johor. It was reported that the trio are PKR members, and one of them is a Johor state assemblyman.

The following day on July 17, it was revealed that one of the trios is a political secretary to PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. His name is Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak and he is also the chief of Perak PKR.

But before the revelation of Farhash’s arrest, Anwar was one of the earliest politicians to address the arrest of Haziq. Then, the PKR president said the people want to know the authenticity of the videos and who is the culprit behind the scandal.

Additionally, he also said that it was up to the police to explain the arrests in the course of investigations. This statement was made in response to the criticisms on why Haziq was arrested, but not Azmin.

Looking at Anwar’s statements from another perspective, the PKR leader seems to be trying to stir up the issue. First, he labelled the lingering question of the video’s authenticity as a public interest, then only he addressed the issue of who the mastermind behind those videos was.

From here, Anwar reminded the public on the legitimacy of the videos as the media has been too busy focusing on the culprit behind the videos after the arrest of the six initial suspects.

Moreover, he redirected the question on why Azmin has not been arrested by the police, indirectly urging the authorities to come out with an explanation.

Plus, the revelation of Anwar’s aide involvement in the scandal made the conspiracy that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad prefers Azmin over Anwar more intriguing. How will the PKR president respond to his aide’s arrest?
