Hadi Awang had lesser media appearance after the RM90 million scandal

According to media intelligence, the presence of PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang in the media witnessed a spike in February due to the RM90 million scandal involving his political party.

The issue remained popular in March until it slowly faded away in the following months. It is also noticeable that the PAS president has been less active in the media after the scandal.

Looking at the top issues of the Bachok MP, half of them were conspiracy theories and opinions. Amongst them were ‘Hadi meeting the Prime Minister’, ‘Hadi’s value of bringing PAS politicians into PH’, ‘Hadi’s support towards Tun M’ and others.

Meanwhile, the other half were his statements on current issues such as ‘Zakir Naik’, ‘challenging Amanah to use DAP logo in GE-15’, ‘ Jawi syllabus issues’ and etc.

In August, Hadi had high media exposure on certain days, particularly on the 2nd and the 15th.

On August 2, he gained high media exposure due to his statement, “Anwar does not deserve to be PM”.

On August 15, Hadi defended Islamic preacher Dr Zakir Naik after the latter become a sensational issue in the media due to his controversial statements.

According to reports, the Indian preacher labelled the Malaysian Chinese as “old guests” to rebuff calls for his extradition.

Additionally, Zakir also alleged that Hindus in Malaysia are more loyal to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi compared to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Nevertheless, Hadi went quiet in the media again after his statement on Zakir Naik.
