Hasan rejects Kit Siang’s challenge
UMNO acting president Mohamad Hasan confidently predicts that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government will dissolve the parliament within the next two years.
He said that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will call for a fresh general election to elect his successor instead of giving the position to the “would-be Prime Minister”. No names were mentioned, but it is obvious that his statement was referring to Anwar Ibrahim.
Subsequently, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang challenged the UMNO acting president to a bet. If Mahathir dissolves the parliament instead of passing the premiership to Anwar, Kit Siang will retire from politics.
But if Mahathir keeps his word and passes the Prime Minister’s post to Anwar, then Mohamad Hasan will withdraw from politics and will not contest in GE-15.
However, Mohamad Hasan turned down Kit Siang’s challenge, stating that he is a Muslim and he doesn’t bet.
Looking at the current political scenario in Malaysia, is it certain that Tun Mahathir will make Anwar Ibrahim his successor?
