Malaysia’s most searched individuals

Google Malaysia has revealed the top 10 most searched person in the country for 2019, although the year is yet to be over.

 

 

Topping the list is Vanessa Angel, an Indonesian actress, who was caught in a prostitution scandal in the beginning of the year.

 

It was reported that she charged her clients 80 million rupiah (approximately RM24,000) for her ‘services’.

 

 

RM24,000 is also the amount of salary paid by former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to Noorhaina Hirawani Mohd Noor from Orbs Solution Sdn Bhd for digital communications work.

 

 

In fact, Vanessa Angel made very little headlines in Malaysia media during the peak of her scandal.

 

However, the top searched person list unveiled by Google has made her to be discussed again in the Malaysian media.

 

On the other hand, it is not a surprise for Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, who came in second on the list, to dominate the voice share.

 

He is Malaysia’s Economic Affairs Minister of Malaysia and also PKR deputy president.

 

 

Nevertheless, a higher number of news was reported about him during the mid of 2019 due to his alleged gay sex scandal.

 

Haziq Aziz, who is placed at the 9th spot, claimed that he and Azmin were the people in the infamous gay sex videos which went viral in June.

 

 

At third place, local actress Emma Maembong made headlines for letting go of her ‘tudung’, after images of her with her then boyfriend, Syed Abdullah were leaked online.

 

Syed Abdullah is the older brother of Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq.

 

Meanwhile, Singaporean-born Malaysia-based singer Aliff Aziz was placed at the fourth position.

 

 

He was trending in May after his then wife Bella Astiallah, who is a local actress, divorced him because of extra-marital affairs.

 

Aliff also got into some troubles in September and November because of thievery and a drunken brawl.

 

Basically, those in the top searched person in 2019 according to Google Malaysia were all involved in controversies.

 

 

K-pop stars Jung Joon Young (5th) and Seungri (7th) were involved in rape and prostitution scandals respectively.

 

A ‘self-pleasure’ video portraying an individual that looked similar to Malaysian actor Ben Amir (6th) went viral on Twitter in September.

 

In Hong Kong, actress Jacqueline Wong (9th) became the third party in the marriage between singer-actor Andy Hui and singer-actress Sammi Cheng.

 

Lastly, at the tenth place is PU Abu. The PU stands for Pencetus Ummah, an Islamic reality-show by Astro which Abu Sufyan was a participant in its third season. Hence, the name PU Abu.

 

In April, the former reality show contestant divorced his seven-month wife Ain ‘Afini to marry widower Hana Azraa.

 

Two months later, In June, Hana revealed that she is in the process of divorcing PU Abu.

 

Those were the top ten most searched person in Malaysia, according to Google.
