Prior to GE-14, the PAS president sued Sarawak Report for libel after the article claiming PAS accepting RM90 million from UMNO was published.

In mid-February of 2019, the RM90 million scandal gained notoriety in the media again. Sarawak Report editor-in-chief Clare Rewcastle Brown revealed that PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang gave the press company a RM1.4 million cheque as an out of court settlement.

Meanwhile, MACC investigation on the scandal found that PAS did not received any money from 1MDB fund (as of February 24).

Intriguingly, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and vice-president Rafizi Ramli seems to be interested on the RM90 million scandal.

There is a hearsay revealing that Anwar is the mastermind behind the no confidence move. Plus, an audio recording of Anwar trash talking Tun M has been spreading online. This led to another rumour that Anwar is the man who paid the RM1.4 million out of court settlement for PAS.

In return, Anwar said that he has the documents that PAS paid Clare to settle the libel suit. Additionally, he said that the no confidence vote to oust Mahathir is just a baseless rumour initiate by Hadi Awang.

Then, Rafizi Ramli came in to show his support for Anwar. He clarified that the RM1.4 million was not paid by Anwar, instead KTMB chairman Rameli Musa is the person who conducted the transaction. He even posted an image of Rameli dining with Hadi Awang.

Is it ethical for Rafizi to reveal the identity of Rameli Musa in order to clear Anwar’s involvement, despite the investigation is still ongoing?
