Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, the wife of former Prime Minister Najib Razak, was asked by the court to declare her assets before her trial for 17 charges of money laundering. Interestingly, her lawyers Datuk K Kumaraendran and Datuk Geethan Ram Vincent filed for objection. This move indirectly showed that Rosmah did not want to reveal her asset.

The former first lady along with her former aide were slapped with graft charges in November 2018. The corruption charges were related to the solar hybrid project at Sarawak schools.

Initially, deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Akram Gharib filed a joint trial for both Rosmah and Rizal. However, he withdrew the application due to some error in the filling. However, this does not imply that the joint-trial will not proceed as a fresh application was set to be submitted on March 21.

However, the media prefers to link Rosmah with her husband, Najib Razak, rather than Rizal Mansor. Najib’s appeal in the SRC money laundering trial was supposed to commence on March 11 and 12. Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah delayed the trial after he injured his wrist while playing with his dogs. The incident happened around the same period.

Based on the trend, it will not be surprising for the trials to be delayed again. Before her trial, it is expected for Rosmah to declare her assets, unless her appeal succeeds. Nevertheless, it will be easier for Rosmah to clean her name by declaring her assets.
