Mukhriz apologised to Johor ruler

Chief Minister of Kedah Mukhriz Mahathir “ignored” Sultan Ibrahim of Johor at the funeral of Sultan Ahmad Shah (the fifth modern Sultan of Pahang).

In a viral video, it was shown that Mukhriz skipped the Johor royal family during a greeting session with the rulers.

Consequently, several Twitter users criticized his action and shared the video of the incident.

The incident however, was not heavily reported in the mainstream media.

From the media exposure of Mukhriz, there was a spike on May 24. It was the day after the video went viral.

Then, the Kedah Chief Minister apologized for his action and sought forgiveness from the Johor ruler. He said that the incident happened due to an inadvertent mistake and oversight.

The Crown Prince of Johor Tunku Ismail Idris became the top influencer of Mukhriz Mahathir surrounding the controversy.

But he did not address on the incident. Instead, he touched on the Malaysian Football league (MFL) as he is the chairman of MFL.

Previously, Mukhriz as the president of Kedah Football Association questioned MFL for the delay in distributing the annual grant to the M-League teams.

The only active politician that attacked the Kedah Chief Minister in the mainstream media for “ignoring” the Sultan Ibrahim is the Johor UMNO Youth chief Mohd Hairi Mad Shah. He demanded Mukhriz to apologize which the latter did.

Subsequently, the issue died down in the mainstream media.
