Najib trolls again with “Salam” slogans

Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak invented another catchphrase to be used by netizens when he spoke at the “Politik Malaysia Baharu” town hall session, which was held at Putra World Trade Centre during the weekend.

Najib’s entire speech can be seen in this video.

Najib started his speech by referencing his previous phrase “Salam Satu Malaysia” during BN’s rule. Now, the former Prime Minister says two new phrases fit the federal government’s rule: “Salam Satu Minyak Sawit” and “Salam Satu Perpuluhan Dua Lima”.

For context, “Salam Satu Minyak Sawit” refers to Teresa Kok’s statement about drinking palm oil to stay younger. Consequently, she received backlash for her remark, questioning on how genuine her statement was. People also questioned her about the benefits and health risk of consuming a spoonful of palm oil a day.

As for “Salam Satu Perpuluhan Dua Lima”, it refers to Tabung Haji’s announcement that their dividend dropped to an all-time low of 1.25%. Reports cite the previous administration’s weakness, abuse of power, and manipulation of accounts to be the cause.

Whenever Najib trolls, memes follow, as politicians along with netizens start quoting and creating memes on what Najib said.

There is no stopping Najib from coming up with satire quips. After “Bossku” and “Salams”, it is curious what will be next.
