Rafizi has been appointed as one of the PKR vice presidents on December 28. Also elected as vice-presidents are Chang Lih Kang and Ali Biju. Coincidentally, not long ago on December 17, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim’s daughter, Nurul Izzah, resigned from her vice-president position which created a vacancy.

Despite being defeated by Azmin Ali during the 2018 PKR leadership election, Rafizi still managed to be appointed in the central leadership council. This brings out the question of what is the point of the leadership election if the party president has the power to appoint people into the council?

Consequently, the party deputy president Azmin Ali voiced out his dissatisfaction over the matter. It is quite surprising for Azmin to take a jab on Anwar. Previously, he said that he is loyal to Anwar and there is no bad rift in their relationship.

Besides, he also pointed out that some of the people appointed into the central leadership council by Anwar used dirty tactics during the leadership election.

Anwar did not take the jab lightly. He responded to Azmin stating that he wants the council to be inclusive while Azmin want certain people to be out from it.

The leadership election results appointed Akmal Nasir, who is from Rafizi’s camp, the PKR Youth chief position. On the other hand, Azmin endorsed PKR Youth chief candidate Afif Bahardin accepted his defeat.

It seems to be fair and honourable for someone to concede his defeat in the election. On the other hand, Rafizi said that he will accept his defeat and become an ordinary member if he lost to Azmin back in November.
