UMNO and PAS has officiated their cooperation. One of the reasons behind their collaboration is to protect the Malays and Islam in Malaysia.
Recently, numerous suspects have been apprehended by the law enforcer for insulting Prophet Muhammad in the social media. Despite that, UMNO and PAS are still not satisfied with the way Chief Justice Richard Malanjum and Attorney-General Tommy Thomas handling the issue.
Subsequently, Religious Affairs Minister Mujahid Yusof Rawa was also dragged into the protest for not conducting his responsibility in his portfolio. UMNO Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi claimed that Mujahid keep quiet throughout the insulting Nabi controversy.
In return, Mujahid replied that the authority did act fast in apprehending the suspects. He added “let the facts do the talking”. He also asked PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang over his remarks, calling Mujahid small brain despite having academic credential. From here, we can see that Mujahid did not take UMNO-PAS insult over him lightly.
From Mujahid’s top issues for the past one-month period, he has been active in handling several issues like the “non-Halal” child vaccination, Tabung Haji dividend, and discussing pilgrimage subsidy with Wan Azizah. This indicate that Mujahid did do some duty regarding his portfolio, but just not on the insulting Islam prophet issue. Maybe he just leaves the cases to the law enforcers.
However, he has another controversy for parking his vehicle at OKU parking spot. Later, he admitted to the mistake and apologize for his action.
Overall, he seems to be doing his duties as Religious Affairs Minister. But he has become a constant target by the opposition. Did he really do a bad job as Religious Affairs Minister?
