Anifah Aman also quits UMNO

On September 19, the day after Mustapa Mohamed quit UMNO, Anifah Aman followed suit. He left the party in less than three days after he applauded the current Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on September 17 for agreeing to restore the status of Sabah and Sarawak as equal partners.

When we observe his media exposure trend, he actually did not appear much on the media after GE-14. He gained the media attention back on July 16 when he refused to leave the Dewan Rakyat along with Khairy Jamaluddin during the UMNO boycott on the appointment of Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof. Then, he went completely silent in the month of August.

Similar to Mustapa’s departure, Annuar Musa is the person who commented on Anifah’s exit the most with 114 statements. Meanwhile, UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi only gave out 30 statements on Anifah quitting UMNO, calling him a quitter.
