Negative Media Attention on Pejuang

The registration rejection of Mahathir Mohamed-led Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) have caused a spike in Pejuang’s negative news sentiments.

On 7th October when news broke out that RoS had rejected the registration of the Mahathir’s Pejuang party, there were almost 50 negative news sentiments that day.

However, positive news sentiments also increased that same day but only reached less than 25 news.

Last year, the news sentiments on the Pejuang topic were mainly positive except for the month of October where there were more negative news sentiments that month.

Looking at the media share on 7th and 8th January, it was balanced with Malay and English media including a financial daily.

Nonetheless, political news portal such as Mykmu also made an appearance although not as apparent as Malaysia Gazette.

On a side note, Mahathir Mohamad led the influencer list for the Pejuang topic which proves that he is controlling his party’s narration.

Apart from Pejuang, Syed Saddiq’s Malaysia United Democratic Alliance (Muda) party was also rejected by RoS.
