Opposing the Opposition

DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang my not be holding any position in the cabinet, but he sometimes can be more active other DAP ministers in the media. Due his long-term commitment in Malaysia politics, it is not an obstacle for him to gather the media attention.

In February alone, he tackled on various issues such as making Malaysia a moderate Islam, calling for a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) to investigate the judiciary after and attacking Wee Ka Siong, saying that he will not become a MP if the voters follow the advice of Hadi of not voting for a non-believer party.

At the same time, he was also attacked by the opposition for allegedly faking his law degree and for representing his son, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng in presenting RM2 million fund to Southern College University.

But from his style of banter, he seems to be still practicing his way of being an opposition. Usually, he voices out his dissatisfaction towards the current situation and also attacks the opposition’s move.

Moreover, his favourite target is none other than former premier Najib Razak. Lim often attack Najib and his 1MDB scandal. This practice has been conducted by him way back when he was an opposition.

Nevertheless, his consistency on addressing the scandal may not be necessary bad for having an opposition mindset. He is not in the cabinet. Thus, he does not bind to handle any portfolio and people can’t blame him for not doing his job. On the other hand, it will constantly remind Malaysians on the 1MDB scandal.
