Its all smiles for PAS when the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) recently announced they have yet to find any record of RM90 million from 1MDB entering into the party’s account. Previously, PAS found itself embroiled in a controversy when an article published by the Sarawak Report alleging that UMNO paid PAS RM90 million siphoned from 1MDB in return for their support.
In the past week, the Islamist party has been under investigation by the MACC. On February 25, MACC had confirmed that so far there is no record of RM90 million entering the official account of PAS.
MACC Commissioner Datuk Seri Shukri Abdull confirmation on the finding caught the attention of Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.
According to the chart, Tun Mahathir ranks number 2 as the second most influential figure under the MACC topic with 265 statements in the past month.
From the statements Tun gave the media, Tun quoted MACC saying there is no trace of RM90 million into PAS account, however he states that the authorities need more time to conclude their investigation. Additionally, he reminded the public on Najib’s 1MDB scandal, stating that even though PAS may be cleared from the RM90 million, it does not mean that he did not steal the money.
On the other hand, PAS is still swinging on who their supporting in the Semenyih by-election. Will their stance affect the outcome of the RM90 million probe?
