Yeo Bee Yin seems to be “single” in her ministry
Prior to GE-14, Yeo Bee Yin gained some spotlight in March after she announced that she will leave her Damansara Utama state seat and to contest for Bakri parliamentary seat. After Yeo was appointed as the Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change in July, she has become more prominent in the media.
However, in the media, she seems to be quite alone in running her ministry. Her deputy Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis is quiet on the media, not echoing or support Yeo’s statements. Instead, she was often mentioned by Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Fuziah Salleh. Fuziah mentioned Yeo when she addresses matters pertaining Lynas. It is understandable for her actions as she has been active in protesting against Lynas since 2008.
Despite that, she still has the support from the Prime Minister himself.
She was also associated with Tun M the most throughout 2018. Beside that, majority of the people she often linked with in the media are from DAP – Lim Guan Eng, Teresa Kok, Teo Nie Ching, Hannah Yeoh, Lim Kit Siang and Liew Chin Tong. This may be her weakness as she seems to be only close to the people within her own party.
Again, her deputy Isnaraissah is missing. When searching her name on Google, her top news is about her lodging a police report over the allegation of her having an extramarital affair with her public relation officer.
