Where was Isnaraissah Munirah during the Pasir Gudang crisis?

The chemical pollution at Pasir Gudang which affected more than 2,000 people and 111 schools early this month (from March 7) made numerous headlines, particularly on March 14.

However, Deputy Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis seemed to be missing from the picture.

While Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Minister Yeo Bee Yin was busy making sure the situation remained under control, where was Isnaraissah?

In the media, it was seen that she only appeared twice throughout the crisis. On March 14, she said that the Environment Ministry had deployed resources from other states to check on all 254 chemical factories at Pasir Gudang.

Her second appearance was on March 19, when she declared that an amendment on Environmental Quality Act 1974 will be made to impose stiffer punishment for those responsible in dumping the chemicals into Kim Kim River. Overall, Isnaraissah’s role in the crisis seems to be bleak.

As a deputy minister, shouldn’t Isnaraissah be with Yeo’s throughout the crisis that had more than 2,000 casualties?
