Malaysian Matriculation Programme is a pre-university preparatory programme offered by the Minister of Education. The initiative was first introduced in the 80s. However, it was a sensitive issue as the programme is a race-based initiative.

Matriculation was exclusive to the Bumiputera until 2003. That year, the programme started to open its door to the non-Bumiputera, with 10% quota allocated for them.
