Eyes on Cooking Oil Prices

Surge of cooking oil price dominated the narration of Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP).

Cooking oil prices have certainly taken over KDPNHEP narration after Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations (FOMCA) urged for ministry to act.

The issues about the rise in oil prices has also appeared in the top issue clusters for KPDNHEP which issued a statement that it can set prices for subsidized cooking oil in a 1kg Polybag.

The minister of KPDNHEP, Alexander Nanta Linggi, also stated that they will find ways to solve the rising price of cooking oil.

Despite being under scrutiny over the cooking oil price, Alexander Nanta Linggi still possess control over KPDNHEP’s narration as he appeared in the top tier of the influencer’s list.

The former deputy minister of KPDNHEP, Dr Ong Kian Ming, also appeared within the list but he did not talk about the cooking oil price but raises concern about shops during the total lockdown.

Looking at the data, the news sentiment during the media reported about the increase in cooking oil price was highly negative, which then was replaced with positive a day after.

The change in sentiment is believed due to a statement given by the KPDNHEP minister, regarding their jurisdiction and their effort in bringing down the cooking oil price which reported by media.
