Food Price Hike Grows into A Vexatious Matter

The rising food prices have caused a stir on social media as the issue has amplified concerns from the public.

However, the social network intelligence indicates that tweets from several Opposition leaders such as Fahmi Fadzil and Sim Tze Tzin have emerged with Fahmi’s tweet having the strongest engagement.

Aside from that, users @f4izalhassan and @RQidran were also among those with the highest engagement.

From the top tweets, the Opposition has been using the food price hike narration as an attacking tool by comparing the current situation under PN and during PH’s rule.

Meanwhile, other tweets from the public were mainly concerned over the rising cost of living and the livelihoods of the people, particularly from the vulnerable groups.

Some tweets have also highlighted the minimum wage and criticized the government’s aid as inefficient.

Aside from that, the social network intelligence also showed several tweets from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) received backlashes on social media.

KPDNHEP’s tweets that received backlash from the public were mainly due to their posting about the causes behind the food price hike and their warning to the public on buying counterfeit products.

Furthermore, @HermyRahim had also criticized the government by relating the situation with their 100 days key performance indicator (KPI) and questioned whether prime minister Ismail Sabri will remove any non-performing ministers from his cabinet.
