August was a tough month for Malaysians despite being the Merdeka month. Various racial issues were raised such as Zakir Naik, Khat syllabus and Dong Zong.

According to media intelligence, it is noticeable that the proposed implementation of Khat syllabus was trending for the first two weeks of August.

Consequently, Chinese education group, Dong Zong, which protested the syllabus gained high media attention on the 13th to 15th.

Then, we can see that the Khat syllabus issue was replaced by the Zakir Naik issue for the second half of August.
