Urban Opportunities

Urban areas remains to be the center of job opportunities in the country.

Based on a prominent job listing platform, the top four states that provided the most number of job listings were Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Pulau Pinang and Johor.

From those four states, it was visible that the urban areas such as Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya and Bayan Lepas provided more job oppourtunies to job seekers.

Looking at the salary range for the top 10 locations in Kuala Lumpur, most of them were above RM3000.

Moreover, the median salary in the city center was significantly higher as it went above RM5000.

Meanwhile for Selangor, the median salary range was relatively higher as most of the job listings offered at the top locations offered more than RM2500.

In comparative, the salary range at Selangor was not as high as Kuala Lumpur as many job postings still offered below RM5000.

The high salary range in Kuala Lumpur is most likely driven by the fact that the job listings are mostly high-skilled jobs, with average cumulative was above 50% across districts.

However, overall outlook of high-skill and low skill job distribution in the two-leading states has shown that slight balanced has occurred, indicating that blue-collar job is still strongly in demand even for the two main economic hub states.
